Course: Living Anatomy
Living Anatomy at the Craniosacral Therapy Educational Trust (co-founded by Michael Kern) is an interactive online course run over nine weekend seminars, supported by home study. Seminars take place roughly once a month — and have a focus on the human body’s vitality, with a learning style that is both enjoyable and informative. The weekend seminars begin on July 17th-18th 2021.
The course places an emphasis on practical study, and a recurring theme is participants’ awareness of their own bodies. This course combines unique teaching methods with practical exercises in touch and palpation skills, meditation and visualisation, surface anatomy, mobility testing and body movement, all intended to give participants a direct understanding of the topics being covered.
Craniosacral Therapy
The material covered in the Living Anatomy course is an ideal foundation for people who want to undertake a Craniosacral Therapy practitioner training, or training in other complementary therapies. It is open to all. The course includes 96 hours of online classroom instruction and covers all the major systems of the body, exceeding the minimum of 80 hours that is required to register in the UK as a Craniosacral Therapist.
Course Content
The seminars cover all the major body systems, and encourage a wholistic and integrative approach to understanding these systems. Each seminar covers particular themes and topics, such as Structure and Relationship, Breath and Blood, and Unity in Motion.
Tutors
The course is taught by Gary Carter and Anne Stevens. Gary Carter has more than thirty years of experience in anatomical study, physical training and bodywork practices. In 1991 he founded the Natural Bodies Centre with the intention to teach ease and kinaesthetic awareness in a range of movement disciplines. He has lectured for Pilates teacher trainings, dance trainings, hospital physiotherapists and massage schools.
Anne Stevens qualified in Denmark as a physiotherapist in 1995, and with CTET in Craniosacral Therapy in 2004. She has worked in both the NHS and the private health sector, and is currently the lead physiotherapist for a private clinic in North London. She also practices Craniosacral Therapy in the same clinic.
